Boss∞

This is a song I made to try the style of Terraria's music. Admittedly, it sounds nothing like something you would hear in Terraria but I think I gave it a good go. I chose the title because of Terraria's naming conventions for the first pieces of music they added for bosses (boss1, boss2 etc). I chose boss∞ because I imagine this song would be playing during a final boss fight. The song is meant to loop so listening to it off of loop sounds a little strange when it stops. As for the actual song, I have little to say other than the fact I am proud of the melody and depth I added to this song. I will say, however, the final chorus has a lot going on which makes it sound odd when not using headphones. The guitar solo at the end feels slightly wrong to me but my music teacher seems to think there isn't anything wrong with it an that it's actually quite good! I feel this song has a very prominent retro vibe because of the instruments I used. I really enjoyed making this song and hope you enjoy it too. Feedback is, again, appreciated and please vote if you can be bothered!

I like the melody! I think the sound selection could be a bit better, and maybe some bigger drums. This is a boss song, so it should sound EPIC and HUGE! Try some heavier synths, and maybe even experiment with a choir? Who knows, do what sounds good to you! Good job!

Broccoplant responds:

I did actually add a choir! It's subtle bcs the software wouldn't let me make it louder :,/. Thanks for the feedback!

It reminds me of those old NES games. I like the old computer type sound. Tbh I haven't played Terraria so idk what it sounds like lol

Broccoplant responds:

Yeah it reminds me of that too. For your information it doesn't sound anything like Terraria's music lol.

it's alright. i feel like the main thing that is hampering this song is production quality. i don't know what this beepbox fork is capable of but from what i've seen it isn't a lot, and i know something like this would benefit from more powerful synths and software. the melodies are nice, maybe a little repetitive, although the break at 0:52 sounds a bit empty, i feel like there could have veen a muted bassline there. same with the percussion. overall it's not bad!

Broccoplant responds:

Thank you! I will look back at the song when I get the time and see if I can't make a re-attempt version on a dif software maybe? I agree with you about the synths and the break is quite empty. It was intentional but I have no doubt that it wasn't executed well. Thanks for the feedback!
