From Tasukete - Definitive Edition
This is where the album drops off for good and does not come back.
One of the original Tasukete tracks that survived the mass cutting, but was massively reworked for the album. For starters, the song was made much shorter (original was 9 minutes long). Backing beat was redone, bassline synth was added, etc. I don't usually like to go for the obvious "yeah I'm okay! (ACTUALLY DYING ON THE INSIDE)" cliche, but like the rest of the album, this song is fueled by anger. This song originally had no lyrics, but I added them after someone blew me off when I was in emotional distress after I had to listen to them complain for an hour. The ending really came about somewhat by accident. When I originally played this (very freehand; just how I approach music), I liked it, but near the end I became bored with it, so I started moving my hands all over the keyboard to fuck up the sound. I ended up liking it a lot more for that. In the original, there weren't that many post efforts on the meltdown at the end (reverb and some EQing to reduce harshness, original is EXTREMELY harsh), but I discovered a new, fun effect in Audition called "Cutting Power."
My friends tell me that, aside from Meltdown, this is the best track on Tasukete DE.
Lyrics are as follows:
yeah, everything's a-okay.
i didn't want your company today.
we're all alright over here.
i'll smile to make it disappear.
everything's fine
everything's okay
no, i don't feel sad
i'm not unhappy
sure, i slept last night
i just haven't washed my face in awhile
no, i'm fine, i swear
yeah, i'll listen, just go ahead and talk
everything's a-okay.
so you make me say.
cut out your tongue.
nobody wants to hear you scream
yeah... everything's a-okay.
i'll just die another day.
