This is what I can do with an 8-year old Casio CTK-551 keyboard, a multi-track recording and mixing program called Kristal, and a 4 dollar 1/4 to 1/8 cable bought in a Chinese electronic store connected from the headphone/output socket of the keyboard to the Line In socket of my soundcard, using the keyboard's cheap-ass instruments and using EQ and effects that came with the program like chorus and different kinds of delay to make it sound better. (All I really used EQ for was to make the bass drum sound on my keyboard sound more like a techno kick, though...) Pretty low budget, huh? XD It's not too impressive, but it's a start.
I made this thinking of Half-Life 2 music and its setting, so that's how it came up sounding like this and also why it's called what I called it.
Maybe next time I'll do something else with this shitty keyboard, this time experimenting with my guitar, if I can make it sound good through that cheap cable. The clean sounds pretty good, the problem is my pedal distortion is FUBAR'D, even with all the gain down...
I welcome any criticism on my mixing and equalizing, or anything else that needs improving.
