Autumn Wind

Hello everyone! Hope you're all as excited for the spooky season as I am, haha. This is probably one of the first times in a long time that I made an entire song off a feeling or range of feelings rather than a specific theme or style. Like, I usually make it pretty obvious what I'm going for, whether it's a creepy circus or western spaghetti film. But for this, I sort of just chucked in whatever instruments and colours I thought helped express what I wanted to say.

Even though it's not exactly autumn for me where I live, I still correlate the end of September and the start of October with autumn because of all the things online. I'd love to travel to a country that actually has a contrast between seasons (nz is pretty much always green). Just want to experience the true autumn feeling and atmosphere where all the trees and stuff are going orange and yellow.

For this one, I honestly had quite a bit of fun with it. Playing around with different textures and all that. I do have to say, for the climax, I do think I may have rushed it a little bit. I've got another thing planned and this took a little longer than expected. But hopefully, it's not too noticeable, haha. I wanted to sprinkle in some spooky musical techniques here and there and have a Halloweeny sort of palette. Since October is the spooky month after all. I swear if I see stores selling Christmas stuff already, I'm going to lose my cool.

Apologies for disappearing for pretty much half a year, I had to create songs and stuff for another thing, and that pretty much took up all my time. I now know how to make dubstep, EDM, and Eurobeat music, but I probably won't touch those genres for another few years xd. Orchestral music is the only style of music that can truly keep me interested enough to make a full-length song out of it. other genres just get too boring for me, y'know?

Maybe I'll do dubstep again lol. It's fun becoming one with the wubs and making some *interesting* drops.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this song and have a lovely autumn :)

Oh and also, I'm uploading this late at night (again. man, I never learn from my mistakes) so there may be a few changes to the track here and there. If there are any beep blops that shouldn't beep blop, please let me know and I'll fix it straight away.

Thank you for understanding xd

Yoooo! WHAT?! I felt compelled to check out your stuff cause of how chill you are and I get stuff like this? AMAZING haha

Tangerine responds:

Haha, thanks!

I thought I reviewed this already, sorry about that.

This is probably one of my favorite tracks from you since the carnival one. The melody here is just so fun to listen to. The main criticism I have with this is the choir: I don’t think it fits the vibe you’re trying to go for. Anything you put the choir in sounds really nice, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t see the thematic connection between the calming winds of fall, orange and red trees dotting the landscape with the rustles of their leaves overhead, walking down a trail as dusk swiftly approaches, illuminating the sky with a purple to orange gradient connects with the battle-driven hardy sound of the choir soundfont you used. That was a REALLY long sentence lol.

But I like the way the song flows. The transition into the final climax, with the swift crescendo, I think fits really well. The outro is cool too. But my absolute favorite part has to be 2:37-2:50. I adore the flute there; this is what I imagined when I think of the scenario above. Overall, great job, although I think there’s a chance you’re using choir a bit too much recently.

Tangerine responds:

It's nice to hear from you 50. I feel like I could have executed the second section of the song better if I built up to it a little bit more. Maybe bringing in the choir earlier or switching the first half of it out with the strings.

The reason why I went so hard with the choir is because I was planning on making this my song for the spooky season, so I planned to make a slightly spookier section. But in hindsight with my actual spooky song, this was sort of not needed.

Honestly, 2:37-2:50 is my favorite part too. Though, I've listened to it so much that the flute sounds flat to me haha.

Really love this one. Gives the feeling of leaves falling from the trees and others changing in color. Can feel the air becoming more chill. Great storytelling in the melody and dynamic changes.

Tangerine responds:

Thank you so much, my friend. I do put a lot of effort into trying to tell a story through changes in the texture and tone, so I am glad it's getting noticed.

great song

Tangerine responds:

Thank you

could just be me, but im getting good FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood vibes from this, and i love it. hopefully i gave you a good score, i clicked 5 stars, i love this track, but im also new to newgrounds, just joined so i may have goofed on the rating, hope not though, love the song though, fantastic work.

Tangerine responds:

Welcome to Newgrounds! I hope you enjoy it here. Thanks for the good score, my friend.

I've never watched Fullmetal Alchemist, but if the music gives off the same vibe as mine, then I might give it a listen.
