Four years ago on this date, I released my very first video game, Darkhouse. And to this day, it is by far the game I've ever made.

This is an official, remixed version of the theme that plays during the final boss battle of Darkhouse, a song that I've always wanted to make into a better version. I have no idea how I originally made it, I just kinda entered a trance and went crazy with it (which is basically what I always do when I make things), and somehow I arranged it into something that really stands out from the rest of the soundtrack. But I knew a lot less about making music then than I do now, and I thought it'd be neat if I finally remade it for the 4th anniversary of Darkhouse. And I also made a cool artwork for it, too.

I started working on this several weeks ago because I was burnt out on The Legend of Quintavius, again. I had this idea and thought it'd be good to work on something else for a short while. But then I just had to go and come up with a really cool idea for Ludum Dare, and I got impatient and wanted to make it. But then life happened mid-jam (it wasn't even unforeseen, I'm just that bad at planning), and after I submitted an unfinished Quantron's Game I've been working solely on this song and artwork to get it done in time. And like always, there's a couple mistakes and things I would've done differently.

But I'm still very proud of what I made. I think my improvement shows between this song and the original version, and the art I made for both. Darkhouse still means a lot to me, even though it sucks. I still want to make it's improved/full version, I just don't know when it'll be time to.

Next I'm going to finish Quantron's Game, as fast as I can. There is so much more I wanted to do with it. I'm definitely not gonna try that again for another game jam, probably. I'm sorry this got in the way of that, even if that got in the way of this first.

And after that I'm going to get back to work on the thing that both this and that got in the way of, the infamous one game I'm making. Part of that will be making another blog post that explains what's been going on with it, because I feel it's important to do that.
