This track is about the passage of time and feeling stagnant in a fast-moving world. (Lyrics at the bottom of my ramblings!)

This has never been more relevant to me than now. Months feel like days. I spend most of my time indoors, usually working on music or wasting time somehow. I think a mix of this and near-constant productivity have affected my perception of time. My life has probably changed more in the last year or so than it ever has in my whole life, and for some reason, nothing feels different. I recently moved (while working on this track! very rough juggle), I've had a whole giant switch-up in my social life, less friends, new friends, work has exploded (which is great! But means more time indoors), on top of all sorts of other things. It feels like all this happened in a couple weeks time. I don't feel like I can keep up with everything, yet I don't feel like I even need to try. It's like I'm just being pushed forward. I don't know if it's just part of getting older or what, but that's what this track is about. Liquid mirror is a metaphor for a still body of water.

I had a lot of fun putting this song together! I wish I had some more time to do it though. With everything else going on, I really had things dragged to the last second. That being said, I'm quite happy with the turnout despite this. I've been having fun getting playful with my vocal processing and looking for ways to mask the fact that I can't sing good in a way that adds to the sound of my music. My voice occupies an awkward frequency range, so shifting up the formant is usually how I dodge dealing with that. I also just like the way it sounds! There's something about an abstract voice that I feel I can relate to more. I did my best to make the words intelligible, but that's definitely something I still have to work on. A new microphone would serve me well there. Other than that, I tried to keep this more simple than usual, even though there's still quite a bit going on. I love to really get wacky and nitty gritty with production, but aside from not really having enough time to do that, I'm starting to think it's not something people like very much. For the sake of the competition, I tried to dial it down a touch.
