Weird Food

This is a song about weird food. Specifically a peanut butter sardine sandwich dipped in water. What does it taste like?

I just knew I wanted to make something weird, so this is what popped out. It ended up taking an incredible amount of time. I made a little plugin in Patcher for some fancy reverb effects that I don't think I ended up using very much in this track. I also ended up recording a lot of samples. The whole reason this song is about food is because I was eating a microwave chimichanga when I was working on it. That's what all those chewing sounds are. Any of the other samples I used were either from my own soundpack, or from Splice.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy. Here's the stats on this one:

I’m late to the party, has the food expired or is it still ok to eat?

This music will not expire though, that’s for sure 😛

Official Review for NGADM Round 2 :

I don't have much to say about the first part, just your typical sleep paralysis demon.

The chords playing afterwards are kinda weird, but in a good way. Those synthwave drums complement it really well. I also like that sparkly arpeggio quite a bit.

The chewing chimichanga sound effect at 0:44 is a funny, but useful addition. Must be how it feels to have a twitch ASMR streamer eating her mic in your right ear.

I like the funny flute and piano sounds, but I'd have liked some ambience in the background, which you fixed at 0:55 by adding some more elements.

i really like the lead transition at 1:15 honestly, the SFX's that go with it are also pretty damn cool.

The part at 1:27 suddenly shift vibes, which is an interesting touch. Those weird-ass alien vocals complement it well.

The second drop is once again quite experimental, starts out slow but nicely, but then I FUCKING LOVE that waterflame-ish chiptune metal part !!! It sounds super fun with some great instruments and melodies.

You made a switch near the end of the drop, which is a good way to not make the song too repetitive.

I'd have liked it much more if the end went batshit crazy rather than reusing the same chords as in the beginning but it's fine.

So yeah, funny whacky experimental :)

THIS IS AN OFFICIAL NGADM REVIEW

Wackiness all over place. The arrangement is super funky and chaotic, yet the transitions are surprisingly very smooth. The track is very precise! The chewing is disgusting hahahah, which definitely adds more color to the texture. Also the other percussive elements sound super natural in the track, but i wouldnt mind them a bit more harsh. The synths and the groove pattern are kinda reminiscent of Mr.Bill which i dig. Its tasty.
Kickdrum feels very mellow in the track, its not necessarily a bad choice but some parts deserve a tighter kick, or a kick that has better impact. The mixing in the first parts lacks overall clarity. But i dont know if its a stylistic approach to make the first parts a bit more "lo-fi'ish" and to add more contrast to the mix. It is though a thing that should be executed better. Overall short, but sweet! Or salty? Might be salty?

Given my allergy to both peanuts and whole grain bread I'll use this song as a analog to how experience this.

Food should be tasty, but not weird
