now when i say "the most difficult micro-tuning" im specifically talking about ones that you'd preferably want to subdivide, 9ed2 is in my opinion the truely most difficult tuning system to use when it comes to dividing the octave into equal parts, 18ed2 is especially.. special because it has 1.5x the amount of notes compared to 12ed2, so you'd think working with 18ed2 would be easy but theres something very special about 18ed2 that makes it extremely difficult

first off 18ed2 doesnt allow "false major" or "false minor" scales, which is a term i made for "microtonal variants" of 12ed2 scales, because of how 18ed2 is right in the middle of 12ed2 and 24ed2 it makes it incredibly akward to make regular scales with, in fact its almost impossible to make any form of 12ed2 scale aside from like.. one, which is the wholetone scale, thats it though, any other 12ed2 scale is extremely akward to work with.

and the second reason why i consider 18ed2 the most difficult subdividable tuning system is the same reason why 9ed2 is difficult, there is literally no good fifths or thirds, the only familiar one would be the major third which is the exact same as a 12ed2 major third, a 12ed2 major third is already some-what out of tune, combined with the fact that the fifth's are 30 cents flat/sharp makes working with harmony in 18ed2 insanely challenging, its almost uncanny how far away from 12ed2 it is despite having literally more notes.

this track was essentially me challenging myself to see if i could work with this- horrific tuning system, and honestly its awesome, i actually really like 18ed2, im quite a fan of 15ed2 specifically for its out of tune fifths anyways so 18ed2 can work similarly, so expect a bit more 18ed2 in the future!

i'd like to mention that although carefuless is also in 18ed2, it was made back when i wasnt really too aware of these things like the out of tune fifths, i just used it cuz it was weird and cool and strange! but now i know why its strange and i can now use that to my advantage, so.. prepare yourselves for more 18ed2!
