And Life Goes On...

This song was written about 2 week ago, during when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I have decided to share it as I believe it to be my best work to date. It starts off as a strong DnB song, but the more you progress, the electric guitars get more somber, until finally ending with a lament from a lone guitar accompanied by soft voices.

All in all, this song is about life; about how all good times disappear into melancholy; about how the red seeps into your blurry vision as you drift out of consciousness; about how you're own insignificance in the world weighs down on you..

And yet, life goes on...

I like the frantic bass riffs at the beginning. The texture sounds a bit muddy starting at :15, and the drums could come through the mix a bit cleaner. I like the melodies at :36, but the guitars sound a tad inauthentic. The kick drum also sounds like it has a lot of mid-tones in it, which makes it pretty conspicuous at the breakdown at 1:36. After that, the piece gets a tad repetitive, and I would’ve liked to see some more variation on the melodies in particular. The tempo change towards the end of the last melodic section was a nice touch, and the mellow solo at 2:40 helped give the piece a sense of closure. Overall, the composition of this piece is pretty strong, although the sound design is a bit cheesy, and the mix could be sharper in places. In particular, I’d recommend some stricter equalizing and more compression on the drums to make them pop a bit more. That said, you clearly have a good sense of harmony, progression, and melody. Keep at it, SkullyHop! :)

bit of a journey, this one. the gradual transition from hard hitting industrial rock to the funeral march is an interesting idea! i think a lot of the instruments, especially the voices, lack the necessary weight and sometimes quality, that you need to achieve the big emotional impact you're going for. the drums definitely lack a lot of punch until the end, and then the kick keeps on punching way too hard compared to what's going on around it. the very fast snare roll sounds a little bit goofy tbh. the guitars are really nice though, but could use some doubletracking to widen them out, at least for the lower heavy parts. cool track though!
