My submission for the Art-Inspired Music Contest 2021

inspired by this absolutely gorgeous painting by @sabretooth2611

Based on a note that @ChordC left, l made the mix a bit louder, hopefully not too loud :)

This music is divided into three parts:

I. The Adventurer's Theme 0:00

II. The Journey Ahead 1:05

III. The Climb (Finale) 3:12

The beginning is very atmospheric and I like the solo melody. Just the high strings are a little too loud in my opinion. The part around 0:46 also has a nice feel to it, though the melody in the strings could be a little louder compared to the chord tones.

The legato wind instrument starting at 1:10 is delayed a bit, which stands out because of the arpeggio playing at the same time. This is common with legato instruments and can probably be fixed easily by setting a negative track delay on the wind instrument (usually one has to experiment with values between -30ms and -150ms). The same problem occurs starting around 2:20 and in the brass starting around 3:43.

The part around 1:40 is great with the full orchestra repeating the theme.

The brass chords starting around 2:35 sound a little fake to me. Maybe because the notes are held so long. I don't think brass can play as "pads", unless maybe if they play really quietly.

The buildup to the finale has a nice brooding atmosphere. The finale itself could use a little more excitement dynamics-wise for me. Also, the percussion is a bit repetitive. There are some very good harmonic and melodic ideas in that part, too.

Now, my points are just some ideas for improvement. All in all, nice work - keep it up!

Thank you very much!

My dude, this is some next level stuff! This is something you’d hear in pixar movies, awesome stuff dude ;)

There’s a problem with the volume though, it sounds too low, I have to turn my volume all the way up to hear the song clearly, you should louden up the mix.

Edit: Heheh, I'm sorry, I was not specific enough, The part at 2:35-3:09 and 4:44-end WERE audible enough, it's just the parts other than those two were too low. You can see it on the audio wave on the submission. The parts 2:35-3:09 and 4:44-end has high wave lengths, and the others have very low wave lengths. After you remixed it, parts 2:35-3:09 and 4:44-end are too loud, probably because you turned the mix of the WHOLE song. Basically, you only needed to louden the parts other than the two I mentioned.

Sorry if I wasn't specific enough, I thought you knew what I was talking about XD, hope this helps.

Edit2: Yess, it sounds better now! Awesome job mate :)

ZaazNG responds:

Thank you so much! I'll definitely need to touch up the audio before the deadline.
Edit: Oh, that's what you meant, I thought you meant the whole thing, thanks so much for the feedback! it should sound fine now :)
