Description

My longest release so far, it's not perfect or overcomplicated at all, but the overall result is delightful. Massive is still such a powerful asset in creating weird soundscapes, especially with these randomly changing resonant peaks. Added some spice to the track as well, in the form of glitchy synth drums (all 3xOsc) and other heavier basses. Fun fact: sounds a lot happier in D dorian (tune up a semitone).

Composition

Excelsus is composed in the key of C♯ dorian, playing at 112.57 BPM. The time signatures vary throughout the track:

  • until 5:57, the first section is in common time.
  • 5:58-9:11, the second section is in 13/8.
  • after 9:12, the third section is in 7/4.

The integrated loudness level is -9.3 LUFS with a peak level of -3.6 LUFS.
