Daydream is a song I wrote about reflecting on my past, present and the potential future ahead of me. My single “Celestial”, released independently in 2018 was made during one of the hardest times of my life and using it as the template for Daydream, I wanted to show people how far I’ve come not only in my production abilities, but as a person. Celestial, during a time of darkness was everything I wanted to feel emotionally. It was lighthearted, energetic and in my eyes inspiring which contrasted my reality. Years later through “Paper Skies”, I’ve been able to take the thoughts I had in my head as a child and transform them into a reality, acknowledging the faults of my past and coming to terms with myself that I’ve grown and become stronger. By fighting against the odds, I’ve managed to come out on-top and if a younger Dan could see me now, he’d feel exactly how he wanted to feel when writing Celestial. I’ve overcome the pain and all that's left is to achieve everything that was once a Daydream.
