So for a week, I wanted to try an experiment I had done a couple of years ago in trying to make SNES-inspired tunes. I used sound fonts the first time around so this time I wanted to try and make all the instruments myself while sticking to a rough approximation of the SNES audio limitations. So I either recorded all the sounds myself with either live instruments of hardware synths or used freesound samples, edited them down to be under 1 second, only used around a 20k or below sample rate, and only used 8 channels at a given time.
All the music is inspired by a fake spaghetti western RPG I came up with called "Sunset Renaissance". Here is a rough idea of what I was picturing:
Sunset Renaissance:
In the distant future, all of Earth's oceans have all but dried up leaving nothing but vast deserts in its wake. Society has regressed back to traditional wild west towns and culture built around whatever technology they can scrap together from a time long forgotten. Your story begins as a young soon to be adventurer living on the ranch that's been in your family for generations.
Protect your family, Explore this ruined planet and learn it's hidden secrets, and maybe discover how the planet got this way to begin with.
It's Mad Max but Earthbound and Cowboys. yeehaw pardner.
