When I started making computer music, I mainly made rock songs just like them (believe it or not). They have been my idol and ideal. I was happy because I felt like I were listening to their music closer.

Basically, software vocals are also output as WAVE files, so I think that the work we have to do to computerize them is almost the same as for human vocals (including vocoding as you said, mixing and mastering). However, they are still difficult for me and I am learning on YouTube. Another question for vocaloid users is, "how to make vocaloids sing well?" This is a technique called "ボカロ調声" in Japan, which is also difficult for me.
I Just can't stop to listen it, it's just beatiful. I love this computer voice !
