In honor of Black lives and the current month dedicated to their history, if mostly that history which happened in the United States. I feel conservative sticking to one vocal track, but the lyrics are heavy and playing around with sung harmonies didn't feel right to me. I pray the universal deep-seated culture of White supremacy can begin to crumble, now that the information age gives us zero excuse to not read or not communicate with each other.
Lyrics:
All lives don’t construct us,
If Black lives are still betrayed.
This homework’s been overdue;
Many deadlines have been slayed.
All lives want nostalgia,
That Black lives cannot forget.
What makes up this ignorance,
Is a vault of unpaid debt.
Let’s make old business shatter;
Downfall the one-percent.
I’ll bite ’til your voices matter.
Your history is far from spent.
Oh, my God is merciful,
And the Devil serves you right.
Cold conduct is often fallible,
So seek the heat for brewing light.
Wash every White expenditure,
We can dry upon what else remains.
Share that which was indigenous;
Those hand-me-downs with bloody stains.
Let’s make old models shatter;
Downfall the one-percent.
I’ll scream ’til your voices matter.
Your history’s no accident.
What gives?
You certainly don’t,
Have to cry for spilled milk.
Make it make sense,
What more could you possibly,
Want from that perfect smile?
Defund all the bad guys.
Educate, and we will break the lies.
Hands up, pencils down, our time is past;
Does it matter anymore?
Should it matter anymore?
Could you care any less?
Let’s make old grudges shatter;
Give more than you can take.
Remember how much you matter.
So, show us what you’re made of!
