The name threw me, I was expecting something different. This has mid 90's retro style Chilli Pepper's guitar sounds, circa "Tearjerker". Nice and clear and decent sounding reverb on the guitar. I like the wandering guitar/bass riff, which could be backed up with a deeper bass sound to flesh out and drive the track along more. I would like to hear more compression and thump on that kick drum and a bit more 'edge' to the track generally speaking. Some saturation to beef it up perhaps, a little more meat on dem bones. The horn/soft brass riff is really nice. Would like to hear more variation in the drums. I prefer my sounds a little rougher round the edges. Comes down to personal taste. Definitely something to work with overall though.

Yes kb,

Everything you say is bang on. There's something here but I need to really work at it. There's a lot i'm considering, I need vox, better guitar, additional drive, chorus. i'm going to sit this week and go again.

Very nice ambient sound on your guitar, as usual. Nice happy skip skippitie beat and bass line. nice backups. I could go for a change section in the middle to give it a less repetitive feel. Other than that, all it needs is some good vocals and you got a good pop tune there.

pitbulljones responds:

100% mate.

This needs some time put into it. I'm considering tempo, rerecording most of it, vox, the works. There is a kernel of a tune that needs coaxing out and it will take time.

Interesting use of reverb in the beginning, due to the bassline this reminds me of early pop music from a few decades ago.

It all fits together, I like the slight background vocals in this. It's a demo as I see but the only thing which I would improve in a full non-demo version is to not make it repetitive, as the bassline stays the same for a long time. But that is the only thing, it sounds well mixed to me with good leveling of the different instruments.

pitbulljones responds:

Thanks mate. For the verb, i use vintage reverb by valhalla, swear by it it ha. I did decide I would make something 'poppy' i tend never to do so, though the bass is just my normal telecaster eq'd.

Absolutely agree, it's repetitive. I'm not even sure what I do or don't like and there's a high chance I scrap most of this and redo it, hopefully with a melody, vox, some acoustic. I think maybe keep the chords and the bass....but i may do them again. Tempo's an issue, i may go to 140 from 120.

I basically need to spend the next week really tearing this apart.

thank you for the kind words mate
