Alright so let me explain what happened. This was my 5th or 6th attempt to do this. I was not getting the picture that I had in mind. But hopefully this works out for Pseudonatural.

So you are trapped in the deep dimension of mackerel scads where you try to find your way out finding out you are being followed by a mackerel scad. As you progress in the dimension, you fell that anytime soon you be sucked into the eyes of the mackerel scad because they're a different mackerel scad from our dimension. Yes they're are a very powerful beings.

Out of all the tracks in the group Id say this one fits the prompt the best for being pseudonatural. The leads on here being in an unnatural scale easily sells that the area your in is not normal. Id say the only critique I have is the same as Kassich, where if you went 100% 8-bit on this it would def suit the style more + just some small mixing overall. Despite that, good job here man!

I think this is a creepy and weird take on the brief. Not a bad thing!
I think you can be a bit more ambitious and experimental with the drums. It's quite a trippy track, but the drums are very standard. I would add as much weird percussion as makes sense, and have it dance around your melodies.

Well done :)

Reminds me of a Pokemon track for a ghost tower or something in the beginning! I'm also digging the triplet part in the melody.

Personal preference, but I would want it to be 100% 8-bit sounding rather than having the drums and the non 8-bit melody that comes in at 1:27.

Nailed the creepy vibe though with all that dissonance!

Hmm, I think I could do that. I'll upload a version of that soon. Thanks a lot!!

ahhh scaryy... this really does have a lot of potential. like bluecheesecult said, some mixing would help your sounds stand out a bit more. i'd suggest adding some more "dynamic" in this song... maybe switch those lacklustre drums you have for 808's? haha this song was building up to one of those hard beats after all, with all those "pause" effects your song could work really well with those drums. (you could keep the drums, but at least make it more interesting, like added percussions, fills, etc.) panning would do you wonders as well in making an atmosphere. i see all your sounds are clumped up at one place, not really having any space to stand out. try to use things like vibrato, trills, ghost notes, etc. to bring out the dynamic in your melodies. if used correctly, the vibe it gives will be "next level". that's all from me. sick idea you got here! really gives me a ruins of alph vibe.

Noted! Thanks a lot!!

Copying from the thread:
I had not read the challenge description for your specific challenge, but you managed to make me think of some ominous otherworld regardless. Good work on nailing the feel. I think the composition works fine as it is. Only thing that could be improved is that I feel like everything is a bit too loud in relation to the main arpeggio. The bass, lead melodies, and auxillary parts could have been adjusted a bit more to make space. The bass, drums and auxillary parts could for example have been quieter. That way the lead melodies wouldn't have needed to be so loud to be heard, and the song could have felt more balanced and pleasant to listen to. Overall I enjoyed listening to the song, and as I said you nailed the atmosphere. Good work! FYI if you do make changes to the song, you can replace the mp3 on your song page but still keep the views, ratings and comments.

DawMii responds:

Thanks a lot! Going to rework the parts you've pointed out!
