Author Comments

This was Draw with Jazza's October's contest theme. It was entitled the Grimataur, which is the name of the creature we had to come up with. I didn't have time to finish this and submit it to the contest, but I decided to finish it anyway so I could post it online. We had to write a paragraph about the creature's backstory as well so here's what I imagined:

Legend says it was first sighted in the 19th century in the late years of the Industrial Revolution, when people would usually know better than to believe in the existence of monsters when technology was developing fast. It's said the Grimataur would appear once every year on the last night of October in cities, to hunt and eat the souls of the murderers and criminals (what people liked to call broken souls). As it's not been seen in years, some say it was slayed many years ago. Some others, however, think it's changed its form and is still hunting the broken souls when October dies on a day people like to celebrate the dead...
