David Holt Tribute

Share

Hi everyone. Third Voice Actor Tribute.

For those of you who don't know, the simplest way to describe David Holt is basically...'British Rob Paulsen'.

He has been voice acting in cartoons and video games since the early nineties, there for the final days of stop-motion animation and has some of our earliest and most celebrated cartoons. He is, simply put, the voice of many British childhoods, mine own included.

So here he is in a commemoration of the characters he's voiced, some you might recognise, others I'd recommend you look into.

Two icons of British stop-motion animation are with their voice actor with Captain Thrice from Lavender Castle on David Holt's shoulder while Oakie Doke balances on his hand. Above, Pipotchi from the UK Dub of Ape Escape 2 flies around merrily.

In the top left corner, General Snake from Puppeteer observes sinisterly while Cameron Obscura from Dragon Quest VIII takes a picture.

In the top-right corner sit Lemmee from YooHoo to the Rescue, Vervain from Watership Down and Pablo from Pablo The Little Red Fox.

In the bottom-left corner are two mechanical misfits, Robot Tennis from Hot Shots Tennis and MUGG-1N5 from The Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.

At the bottom-right corner are The Archaeologist from Fable and Marco Brock from Professor Layton And The Eternal Diva, both appreciating the historic magnificence on display. Behind them, Shere Khan from The Jungle Book TV Show UK Dub lies in wait.

And in the centre, as the cake is finished, Pinky from Pinky and Perky adds the finishing touches, Steggy from Harry And His Bucketful Of Dinosaurs gives his approval and Olwyn Vitoler from Wyrd Sisters announces it in style. Drawn to the wonder, two characters from The Magic Key bound in; Lug the Space Explorer and Floppy the Dog...

(Now that I think about it, who the heck names their dog 'Floppy'?!)

Yeah, managed to pick up some tips for Photoshop. It's a bit of a long process but if you can get it right, it really works. :D
