Zain (Remastered)

"Dr. Selenia said I should keep a log of Zain's actions. I'd have Mel to do it, but he says it'd be better if I documented him as a way of "both assessing him and what I think truly of him." It's stupid."

"Guess I'll start from the beginning."

"Was exploring an abandoned jail - prison - ward place with Mel one day. We were looking around in some of the underground levels, much to Mel's dismay, when we heard some banging on one of the cell doors. Fully expecting something to jump out as soon as the door opened, I readied my hammer, had Mel open the door, and out leapt Zain. He had a lovely kiss with the face of my hammer before recoiling and then burrowing into the floor. Assumed he was some crazy Earth Element that had gotten locked in the cell while exploring himself. Thinking he had enough, we explored the rest of the lower levels."

"We found an archive room of some sort with lists of all the prisoners that had been held - or killed - there. To my surprise, Zain had his own file. Strangely, he didn't have any offences, lastname, or even entire or release date. All that was there was his name, "ZAIN," a picture of him that looked older than Mel, and a scribbled note which said, "Do not interact. Do not let out." Mel was begging for us to leave at this point, and after basically looking around the whole basement, we headed back towards the stairs to leave."

"Just before we reached the stairs, Zain unburrowed from the floor and blocked the doorway. He had a look I can only remember as "I'm going to take your hammer and beat you over the head with it." Mel remembers Zain's look as "Unstable." Knowing damn well I would beat his ass into the ground, I taunted him, saying something like, "C'mon! Bring it, ZAIN!" He seemingly froze after I said that. Mel and I were confused, but I was still on-guard. Then, suddenly, a quick as a blink, Zain zapped towards me and grabbed me with his hair, tightly. I assumed he was trying to crush me, but Mel, not being crushed, saw it more as a hug. Thankfully, it was more of a hug. Still hurt my back like hell though."

"Zain put me down, and no longer had a murderous look in his eyes, if he even had it, I guess. I assumed he hadn't heard his name in a long time and thought I knew him or something? While trying to leave, he just would not stop following us, even after telling him to piss off 8 times. He didn't say anything, at all. Mel thought he must be Mute, while I think he just doesn't know what a language even is. Mel suggested we take off his lock-jacket, and that, "perhaps that's why he's been following us." I disliked this idea greatly, considering the people put in lock-jackets are usually put in them for a reason. However, considering he was a Hairdo, that lock-jacket wasn't doing much anyway."

"After struggling for way to damn long on locks on the back, we finally got it open. To our shock, Zain was insanely malnourished - the only damn thing keeping his chest, well, a chest was his ribcage holding the skin out. Oh yeah, he had 6 arms too. Mel was more shocked by his skin, and I was more shocked by his extra arms. Worse, he STILL wouldn't leave us alone. At the entrance, I basically told Zain I'd beat him over the head if he didn't leave us alone. Mel, however, told me that we should take him along with us and "at least" get him some clothes. Despite my many, many protests, Mel won, he after covering Zain in some dirty blanket we found lying around and let the beast out his cage."

"On the way to the tailor, I never looked, but I damn-well knew everyone we walked past was looking at us. Zain was practically a second sun. A combination of long, dirty hair, a dirty blanket wrapped around you, no shoes, pants only known to be worn by crazy people, and being taller than Densel is not great when you're trying to avoid attention. Finally, we made it to the tailor, and before I could even get in the door, Zain zapped over to a terrible tie-dye shirt, and ripped it for his second pair of arms. I held restraint to not punch his face in. Thankfully, he picked out significantly less worse pants and shoes, and made me pay for it. Wonderful. And after all that, still wouldn't leave us be."

"Zain's just been hanging around us for about a week now. He sticks out like broken leg when he's outside and I try to avoid talking to people at much as possible when he's out the house. Some things I've noticed so far: He is extremely sensitive to sound. He has not slept a second in my bed, Mel's tub, or anywhere on the floor every night since we found him. It's not loud at all most nights, but he hears everything in and outside the house, and knows whenever I or Mel wake up in the morning. - He eats everything. Everything. Any type of food you place in front of him he will eat instantly. One bite, very rarity two. No matter what it is, he eats it. I can only explain this by his malnourishment, but he never indicates he's actually hungry. He just... eats. - Zain's hair and mouth are weird. Being a Hairdo, him using his hair to grab stuff and all is normal, least for what I know about Hairdos. What I know isn't normal is being able to grow and shorten that hair on command. The longest I've seen Zain's hair get is 10 feet. Shortest, about 6 1/2, which is his normal length. For his mouth, every time he opens it, his tongue looks different. Sometimes it's a normal, human tongue, and other times it looks like an orc's, a dog's, a frog's, a bird's, it's always different. His teeth too also change so damn much. Sometimes they're flat and sometimes they're sharp. One time, I sword he was trying to make it like an Orc's teeth. - Zain makes strange noises. He still doesn't speak, but he makes mouth noises. Most of the noises he makes seems to be him trying to imitate what he hears when we're out on the street. The mass-chatter, birds flying overhead, even stuff like boxes falling over he tries to imitate. What's weirder is that he does it really, really well. Almost too well."

"The worst thing about Zain is that I have no idea what Element he is. At first, I thought he was an Earth/Energy Element, but as the week went on, I just have no clue. Energy Elements are known to not be very drink tolerant, but Zain chugged 5 FULL BARRELS OF BEER without even needing to catch his breath. Thank God it was all free under the record's rules. So, does he have a little mix of Water or maybe even Air? Well, no. He ate a red-hot chili pepper and burped up FIRE. LITERAL FIRE. I've been trying to do that for YEARS and he did it on ACCIDENT. I have no way of checking if he's a Life Element unless I try to kill him, which is something I don't want to risk. Not because I don't want to find out if I can kill him, but because I don't want to find out if I can't kill him."

"Today, we brought him to our doctor, Selenia, to try and get some answers on what the actual hell Zain is. After getting his blood sample, which Zain did NOT like doing, her equipment short circuited trying to access it. Not surprised an Energy-based product broke. Damned things trying to take over the other Elements. Thankfully, Selenia had some pre-accessed blood samples from some "special" clients. With the few samples there were, Zain nearly matched all of them. So far, we know he's a mix between a Human, Hairdo, Tretchium, Harpy, Chamimeon, Arachnid, Gorgon, & Siren. That was just with what she had. She told me to start writing this journal and logging anything about Zain Mel or I find to be "unordinary." And that's where we are."

"Currently, we plan on heading to Centeroot in the hopes we'll find someone with greater species knowledge that knows what the actual hell Zain is. Not looking forward to the walking time."
