Please read the whole description. It will help you understand my art piece much better.

A girl is isolated on an island and she could spend her time 2 ways. She could be the girl on the left who wants to do nothing but escape to the beautiful land on the outside. She feels trapped inside her mind (mentally isolated). This is shown by light outside and darkness inside.

Or, she could also choose to be the girl on the right who knows she can go outside through the door if needed, but she understands if she does she will only get more lost. She instead uses this opportunity to be productive and draw in the one notebook that she found in the room. This is shown by light inside and darkness outside.

Similarly, we're all also trapped and isolated in our minds (room). We could choose to believe the outside world (beach) is a perfect place with no faults and want to immerse ourselves in it, but we are unable to fully do so (left side). This is not the only option though.

The other option is to accept the world isn't perfect and has its ups and downs. Once we accept this for a fact, we can be more productive, even if physically isolated from others (right side). This is shown by light inside and darkness outside.

The lesson to learn from this piece is that we all have a choice to make that will impact our state of mind right now as well as in the future. I personally am a bit of an introvert. While some people advise me to “go out more,” I am content with how I am and I use all the time I have from not being involved in social drama at school to draw and improve my art. By drama I mean who likes who and what not.

I realized I was socially isolated and didn't enjoy taking part in drama at school about 3 years ago in middle school. What can I even say, since then, my art has improved so much and I am so much happier with myself now that I know I don't need to compare myself with anyone but myself. When I made that realization three years ago, I could have also chosen to change myself and do things I didn't necessarily need to do just to make myself popular, but I chose the more appealing option and it benefited me tremendously.

I tried to illustrate my story here. I really look up to you Jazza, and I want to be as great and talented of an artist as you are when I get older. For now, I'll stick to being that quiet girl in the corner of the library at lunch who does nothing but draw every day.

Thanks if you took the time to read through the whole thing!! It really means a lot to me.

The piece is mixed media with color pencils, pencil sketching, and acrylic paints. It took so long but it was so much fun!

The perpective in this is so interesting I can't stop looking at it. The different angles from the water, the sand, the box and the people inside make this very unique. Good job!

The-Happy-Triangle responds:

Thank you so much!!! I worked so hard on this piece, it makes me so happy inside to hear that!!
