I think a good in between is to still draw the key frames, but use the tweens and morphing tools to save time in-betweens, or more preferably, the more subtle frames for in-between animation. I'm a total noob, but I'd like to show you a short animation I made with this theory in action.

New animation technique I will very likely integrate in future animated shorts. Saves a ton of time on inbetweening and coloring for better framerate overall at the cost of very negligeable loss of quality on some parts.

This works nicely for a lot of things. But there’s a reason so many artists avoid it. I’m going to use a bad example, Cuphead. If they used this flash-like method, the charm would be lost. And that’s the same charm with your animations, albeit the scenes portrayed being very different. Again, this is probably so much of a time save that you’d have already started integrating it into your art, but it’s important that you
