So, for some reason recently I was reminiscing and was remembering how the basement back home used to look when I was about 7-9. Back then, my grandfather had a hunting and fishing store in the basement called Hache Chasse et Peches (Hache hunting and fishing), and in the basement on the side there was a storage/Laundry room and beside it a small den/guest room where I used to spend my week end mornings playing video games on my SNES, Chrono Trigger, EarthBound, DKC, Mario RPG, harvest mood etc... Got to remember how while I was playing I could hear people coming in and out, the delivery trucks, the sounds of the cash register, it all made the house feel pretty lively. After the store closed in the early 00's the whole basement got remodeled and the store got split into a sort of living area, my bedroom and that side room lost it's wood panel wall and became one big living room type room.

Anyways, amid the reminiscing it occurred to me I don't know of a single picture existing of that room so I had the idea of re-creating it as close as possible to how I remember it in pixels. I'm fairly certain most of it is accurate, except for the carpet color. It could have been brown, but I mostly remember that being the living room carpet's color. All of this is more or less some very personal and very specific nostalgia trip back in time lol.

This is also making me want to do something similar for other important rooms from my childhood that either don't exist anymore or that I no longer have access to.

OH and the reason it's called "La Cave", in most french Canadian dialects, Cave is used as a synonym for Sous sol(Basement) and while the whole place is kinda refered to as la cave, going to la cave for me meant going to play SNES in that little room.

Ah, yes, I see Chrono Trigger’s map on the screen. (Not to mention the room is in a style similar to Super Mario RPG.)

Very well done piece of art you’ve got there!

Your story about this is nice too. I can tell you really enjoyed drawing this.
I remember my family having a TV similar to that one too, to play SNES games and such on.

Pixel work is solid, nice details, and colors are used very well.
Great job!

Looks really good.
