This is my entry for the isolation contest by Jazza. When I was making this I had a lot of different ideas, most involving a human. Then this popped into my head and I thought it was super different. That’s exactly what I wanted, a new idea. So after tweaking it for about an hour or so the lightning bug wound up inside in a jar instead of outside on a tree branch or grass blade.

During the drawing process, I had a ton of fun. I really enjoyed figuring out how everything would work, and I took a step away from my usual more anime-like style. I think it fits the piece. The hardest part was tweaking the idea. I had about eight thumbnails laid out and most of them sort of stayed the same for a bit, but this one stood out. I’m happy with how it’s all turned out.
