Started doing some dynamic pose practice today for a few hours, using photos of irl models, so that I was drawing from life rather then already drawn reference sheets. It makes things alot harder, and helps you learn alot faster doing so.
Once I finished the free hand version of each model, I traced the original image to see how close I was to getting it right.
On the first one, I used no frame work, and just tried to wing it. But I was quickly reminded of the fact that I hadn't worked on a pose in well over 2 weeks, since after week one of working on the body of my samus drawing, I was all done perfecting her body. So I was apparently very rusty with body work, lololol.
So on the second model, I made some basic stick figure frame work to help keep my proportions in check. aaaaaand it paid off dramatically! Gotta remember to keep doing that tbh, lol.
Also on the second model, the trace job actually came out worse looking then the free hand one did... which.. I dunno how I fucked that up, but I did somehow lol. I'm glad the free hand version looks fairly solid tho. Very happy with the results of tonight's practice.
I'll get back at the dynamic pose practice tomorrow. On the inbetween tho I'm gonna start listening to/reading "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". It's supposedly a great resource to try and learn from.
