Transformers Tuesday: Blitzwing

Share

The other Decepticons don't care much for Blitzwing. They respect that he's an absolute terror on the battlefield, using his triple-changing ability to maximum effect. Few things are more destructive and demoralizing to an enemy force than a tank landing on your front line at Mach 2. Blitzwing changes forms rapidly in battle to keep his opponents off-balance at all times. But the most dangerous thing about him is his multiple personalities. Sometimes he's cold-hearted and brutally strategic, other times he remains consumed with raging bloodlust, and others, he's laughing like a madman.

This seems to have only gotten worse over time. An unknown incident on Earth has left him with a ruined reputation and a deep-seated grudge against Autobot Scout Bumblebee. Forced to either join the Mayhem Attack Squad or be put out to pasture, he begrudgingly signs on. On one hand, he is an invaluable member of the team, bringing both tactical genius and pure, raw power to any encounter. On the other, his issues, combined with his refusal to confront them, cause him to butt heads with everybody on the team.

Better blitzwing then the actual movie

I really like the glow going on with the cockpit and his eyes, it really gives a feeling of life with a body made of metal. The technical parts look really good, especially the detail on the head and arms. My only complaint is that the leg connections and arm joints aren't as detailed as the rest of him, making it all look a little bit like armor and less it being his actual flesh. He looks really cool, and I like what you've done with his design!

HeartisttheArtist responds:

Thank you! My main influence was his appearance in Bumblebee (2018), with his colors and tank bits coming from his other incarnations.
On one hand, I’d argue that technically all of him is armor, being that he’s a robot and all, and that having covers over your joints would prevent them getting things stuck in them. A lot of modern Transformer designs have metal tubes of sorts, shaped so that they make limbs look more humanoid. But on the other hand, you do have a good point. I shouldn’t gone with either a fully smooth or a fully mechanical design, rather than trying to meet them both halfway.
That being said, thank you very much for not only being willing to point out my shortcomings, but for being constructive about it! I know I’m ranting, but it means a lot to me, and I wanted to take the time to say it.
