As promised, I drew another Transformer’s alt mode! This time it’s the once-controversial fan favorite, Drift!

The main base of this mode is Drift’s car mode from the live-action movies, a 2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Details like his headlights and grille are based on his appearance in Robots in Disguise(2015), and his color scheme is taken straight from the comics. The kanji on his roof says 侍 “servant” — or perhaps you'll recognize it better as "samurai."

Drift originally debuted in the comics, and was hated by the fans immediately. It didn’t help that Drift is written like a middle school fan character, with everybody talking about how cool he is, rather than actually showing him do anything cool. But look at any random comment on this post to see how stupid the complaints are.

What makes me like Drift, and the Transformers franchise in general, is that he was able to rise above this and become something truly great. Drift went from being a loose collection of “badass antihero” tropes to a genuinely interesting and compelling character.
