D&D OC: Scarlet

Share

Name:      Scarlet

  • Age:        Unknown(physical appearance is early to mid '20s)
  • Occupation:  Reborn(Construct) Cleric (Blood Domain)
  • Likes:       perfumes, calm music, cute dresses
  • Dislikes:     Mirrors/reflective surfaces, loud noises, the color white

Background:

Scarlet doesn't have many memories of her past life, let alone remember her real name. But for a very long time, she was once an obedient, loyal servant to an insidious character who called himself "The Toymaker" who was responsible for bringing Scarlet to life in the first place. During her time with him, she served two purposes: to aid him in his work by taking unfortunate victims into new "toys" and to look pretty and quiet for his other needs.

It wasn't until one day when Scarlet was aiding the Toymaker to take a young girl from her prison cell to be his next experiment, something about the encounter awakened Scarlet's old fragmented memories and her consciousness in its long slumber and the moment of awareness made her realize the horror of the situation. Without wasting another moment, she used this opportunity to escape alongside the poor child; the journey of freedom wasn't easy.

After finally escaping his clutches, Scarlet was relieved that she and the girl are free, but Scarlet would then realize that most people she met are taken aback by the horror of her appearance and status of being a living construct composed of both her old and new body. Wishing to do something about her state, she is fueled with two purposes now in her life: to use her seemingly horrific abilities for good and to find a way to return into the person she once was before the Toymaker robbed her life and turned her into the doll she is now.

--------

Fun Fact:

  • While her limbs are dense and solid, her torso is actually quite soft and firm to the touch, especially when it comes to her chest. This is a deliberate design that the Toymaker did when bringing Scarlet to life to serve his work.

This OC was something I made out of a whim when I look back into pics that are from an old hobby I wish to partake again: Ball-jointed dolls. I absolutely love these kinds of dolls, how they can easily articulate to the poses you want them to be(depending on the brand of the doll), and how you can customize them to what you deemed fit.

I also want to go for another kind of inspiration that helped brought her to life: the Silent Hill boss Scarlet who was a Ball-jointed doll that's associated with blood and how her father was a doctor. I know the name wasn't very creative with what I got here, but hey I do what I do.

I never got to play with her yet, but ever since I showcased her to my friends, one of them wants me to be a part of her Bloodborne D&D game that she's working on since she loves the concept so much! So there's something I can't wait to play for the future.
