Hey I'm network
This WIP is pixel Art that I made for a network mapping application I wrote. I've kept with the idea of showing what's under the hood of the user interactions. This is what's driving the mapping software as it depicts a type of motherboard - more on that later. I'll be adding various animations and interactive elements such as a terminal emulator. This is a celebration of the hard work that goes into making something one pixel at a time. It's like digital pointillism. I've done that IRL too. I want people to be aware of the detail and hard work but not the struggle.
The network mapping tool is very basic and shows the number of devices on your local network along with an animated graphical representation of those devices as objects orbiting around a sun. That part is not static and is made in real-time since any number of devices can either come online or disconnects.
It's useful but it's purpose is to be a functional art piece that elevates it to the realm of Digital Humanities. I didn't know there was a name for what I've been doing until I met members of the Digital Humanities Department at San Diego State University.
It's always a pleasure to find your people!
