This summer, I decided to try something new. We visited several museums over the course of two weeks, and some of the works I saw there made me think 'well any idiot can do this', so why shouldn't I be that idiot?

I have never painted before, and the process is exhilarating. When I'm working on digital audio production, you can redo everything you're not satisfied with - which I my big pitfall, as I'm never entirely satisfied. With painting, you have no such luxury. You can't undo. If you made a mistake, well that's part of the piece now. It forces me forward and stops me from overthinking what I'm doing, and for someone who's been working under perfectionist principles for some 25 years, this is hella liberating.

The painting itself is inspired by a couple of shots from the opening montage of the movie Se7en.

I love the colors you used dude! did you design the stencil too?

LuckyDee responds:

Aye, I scanned in an old picture of myself, blew it up, pulled it through a photocopy filter, printed it back out and simply cut out as many pieces until I figured I was done. It was a real fun exercise, and I can recommend it to anyone :)

Keep it up, I'm loving what I'm seeing

LuckyDee responds:

Thanks a bundle dude

Your painting is cool! There's a lot of inspiration to be found in museums.

The way that the paint drips down looks really nice.

Se7en is a nice movie!

LuckyDee responds:

Hey, thanks man! I should indeed go to museums more often, good karma for your brains. I already have another piece in the making, and ideas for a third, so new stuff will probably follow sometime soon...
