Delfir

I don't think people usually concern themselves much with my ramshackle lore writing; but just in case don't expect to see bright things of this character, in lore they are already dead (sorta). Delfir was a plain ol' librarian, that's right, my craptastic alien OC race actually has things like society and written language; they mainly greeted people at the front desk, helped people sign out books/scrolls/whatever, and helped find things in the library they worked at. If you remember my last upload where I made an angry koi fish noodle that was a banished politian, Calisthor was one of the leaders of the government Delfir lived and worked under, and in this small country-state there was rabid political controversy over Quicksilver. I know I'm unoriginal and all, but Quicksilver in this universe is a poorly understood magic-technology hybrid that involves specialty enchanting of pure mercury so that Faelins can consciously modify their bodies, it's a medical miracle for this one specific species that lets them be who they want and do things like growing back amputated limbs, the catch is that frequent users, people that try it and don't know what they're doing, and non-Faelin subjects can very easily suffer drawbacks ranging from mental illness, life altering/fatal disease/deformity, or plain ol' death by forgetting what you're supposed to look like for a moment and melting. The technology was naturally met with large amounts of controversy, with some people saying it was unnatural, too dangerous, unfair to other races, or life ruining even in minimal use. Well Calisthor (the angry koi noodle, not this character) was an advocate for the continued research of Quicksilver, unfortunately for them, almost all of their peers on the governing council did not support it and they got rid of Calisthor by throwing them through a portal into a random uncharted dimension. This all relates back to Delfir here because in the wake of Calisthor's banishment, an angry mob of assorted peoples raided the library Delfir worked at, killed all the workers, and burned the library to the ground because it was one of the main places with information about Quicksilver; and poor ol' Delfir just happened to be working the front desk when this torrent smashed into the building. Delfir was essentially ripped apart by this frenzied lynch mob, but their story didn't end with being buried in a shallow mass grave and forgotten.

See I'm really lame so I looked at how real world metals can make alloys, and figured that character fusions are neat when they aren't done to death or shown in a weird light; I also don't like the idea of it just being another tool for some shonen style thing because that seems cliché. So in this mess of a lore universe, two characters becoming an alloy/amalgam is permanent and they essentially die and get frankensteined; with the resulting creature having flickers of their constituent parts' memories and being able to remember skills that their past selves had (IE: a musician ends up being amalgamated and the resulting creature remembers how to play instruments like that part of them could, but might have a slightly different style and/or not remember the specifics like particular songs or techniques) , but they're also confused often, start out life almost like a stroke victim (if you remember moving two different bodies, it's going to be confusing to suddenly have to figure out how to operate a third, likely malformed and lopsided one), and if their predecessors didn't see eye to eye very well they're probably going to have some severe mental issues.

I have it designed already and I just haven't given any of it the proper polish yet, but I have a copper based (in contrast to Faelins, who are mercury based) species mostly designed that I'm calling Cyufelk (pleural is Cyufen), and when Delfir was thrown in the mass grave, a straggler Cyufelk was melted alive overtop of the mass grave right where Delfir's corpse was. Between the two former life havers, there was still enough energy that they amalgamated and the resulting confused idiot managed to stagger off away from the scene. The amalgam looks neat and I'm hoping to have the Cyufelk character and the amalgam drawn with proper polish soon.

Now that I'm done being a disappointment for a little bit, this lackluster wreck of artwork took me four hours and twenty six minutes.
