Agitha, the Cute Killer (Concept Sketch)

Share

Old (2017) concept sketch of my character, Agitha. She was initially supposed to be nothing more than a mascot for an upcoming project, but I've started to develop her into a character with an actual story.

I wasn't sure if this would be appropriate for NG, but I figure it should be fine as long as I submit it as a sketch and keep it out of the art portal.

I'm honestly not entirely happy with this sketch. In the left image, her left arm seems a bit off, and I think I made her head just a tiny bit too round, and the jaw angle is a bit wonky (a common problem I seem to have). On the right image, her hair seems wrong somehow, but I'll be buggered if I can figure out why. Normally, I'd just move this to the "Do Not Upload" folder and try again. However, I needed this sketch for some commission work that I wanted, so I was kinda stuck with it. I didn't do linework for this piece, and I didn't do a whole lot of shading. I thought about redoing it with proper linework and shading, but I figured I'd be better off starting a new project when I want to do more with her. As for her weapons, the chain sword is interesting to me, because I never thought that such a weapon would be very effective, especially not against armor. To fix the problems, I came up with the idea for a super-natural engine that could power through anything that would normally foul the chain. Kind of a cheap way to get around that problem, but it works. If I come up with a better idea, I'll write it in. The spike on the back was my way of making it an effective anti-armor weapon in a pinch, by turning it into a makeshift zaghnal.

I don't know if I'm going to keep her weapons as-is. In the story, she's supposed to be a Warhammer 40K fan, and her weapons reflect that fact. But the more I think on it, the less I like the idea, especially since I've started taking the character more seriously.

In actuality, Agitha is one of my oldest original characters; I've had her rolling around in my head for at least a few years now. For her design, she is the quintessence of the brand I'm trying to build: Sugary, girly cuteness juxtaposed with gritty, macabre horror. I also wanted to give her a somewhat regal and dignified appearance, which alludes to what she represents for my creative direction, as well as the comfortable upbringing that she had in her story.
