So, still on my neverending quest to make rigged animation look a BIT more like frame by frame :) Obviously, good ol' hand-drawn animation will always look best but if i can get 70-80% there with half of the work, gosh, i'll take it!
Gotta produce more animation in my life! Maybe even a feature one day!
This is a mix out of a puppet, bone rigging, lots of vector pushing and some additional drawn frames. He also has boiling, sketchy lines which only move tho when the bear moves, so it looks more like frames being re-drawn.
Maybe one interesting thing, i came up with a technique of doing complex shading with just a big vector blob being multiplied onto the character, then cutting into that with more vector shapes and then animating those masks with vector interpolation. So no need to draw shading frame by frame.
