have you ever wondered what the old designs of my characters i sometimes show off looked like? no? well fuck you have them anyways

(note: to enhance reading experience read it like a mumkey jones film review)

1. ThatLizardGuy and PACMAEEEN, my two music mascots from last century, a lot as slightly changed from this to their recent design and i'm quite surprised at how long they kept them since they stood like that for 3 years, only when i started to forget how tf i was supposed to draw TLG was when i decided to redesign him which was quite a doozy and one i struggled with back in 23 even if it was just a giant iguana with headphones, PACMAEEN was supposed to be part of a species called "living copyright infringements" iirc but with how i'm envisioning the current verse these guys live in that's no longer the case so he's a blob now... btw if you have a keen eye their names are just the guys from modern warfare, is pointing out trivia to people when nobody knows anything about your characters that you have yet to flesh out necessary? idk that's on me
2. MAGNA BUNNY. this ain't even her initial design but more of a touch up and a bit simplified as i got more into trying to make my style "rig-friendly" in late-2019 to 2020, not that much changed with her between 2019-2022 but one thing i will comment on is the OUCH shirt's text was blatantly just typed over with copperblack font lmao. also looking at these you will notice that i added things like their skeletons, length and weight rather than just height, dos and don'ts, and a few quips, this was mainly because i was big into dinosaurs and i wanted to add stuff like that just for the sake of it. was it necessary? no. was it fun drawing the skeletons? eh, drawing vertebrae is a bitch to do, plus other than their skeletal structure being a mixture of human and their respective animal what was there else to show off? the anthropomorphic animals are anthropomorphic?
3. JOHNSON ZILLIE or the shitposting brit that was supposed to be a fictional friend of kuan e guana at one point back when i was gonna do animated rant videos like jaiden animations, iaretech and idk turkey tom maybe. besides that his design really changed drastically mainly because all i did was change his species and whatnot , and looking back it makes me wonder what was i thinking? like what fucking trash ass fit did i give to this poor croc? why did i give his hat the british flag other that to show he's a brit? what was even the point of giving him a rhino horn? plus this is a prime example of what i was talking about before with me adding unnecessary info because i watched a lot of dino vids back then because what universe would his diet and bite force matter unless it was stated by the character itself or written in their personality/char bio. UPDATE i just remembered, i forgot to mention the empty space was supposed to have like their abilities and traits and whatnot within the refs but i can't show it off because the old phone i had it on died so the ref for me (which had his nervous system along with his skeletal again for no reason) around that time is the only one with that iirc
4. CROW SHEED's design while keeping some stuff has changed colors and proportion wise, but how i imagine him has completely revamped. instead of being some kid that's incredibly knowledgeable on multiversal travel and knows how to pull it off just to defeat an evil entity, i reimagined him as a coward who's a big fan on space travel and sci-fi. this ref is another example of me just making shit up as i go along and adding unnecessary shit because nowhere does anything show off his owl-like traits, nor does his b-day and his species' conservation status is relevant unless i was thinking of the population of his dimension
5. two bit characters i made specifically for ponytown, only showing this one because it has the golden retriever i could care less about the possum guy HOW YOU WORKING IN THE E.R AND YOU A FURRY YOUS A LIABILITY, his current design which was mostly done because i was watching sherlock hound with dingo
6. KUAN E GUANA (that's me) i could've picked any one of them pre-2022 considering this reptilian is the most drawn fucker out of the bunch but i decided to show off my first attempt at a ref sheet, this was made in sony sketch so i had to minimalize everything because they only gave like 3 canvas modes and you couldn't change the size of them, also you can tell this was when i still considered myself as a godzilla OC with me calling them "fins" instead of spines. as a ref sheet i think it really gets the job done even with the bad artwork, weird coloring thing sketch did and me censoring ass for no reason. and that reminds me, i haven't seen anyone draw me with gloves since i've started to explain they're barely developed nail hands
7. none you guys know him but UTTY THE UTAHRAPTOR, the protagonist of a one-off thing i wanted to do in 2019, LOOK AT HOW FUCKED UP THE WINGS ARE WTF WAS 14 Y/O ME DOING. other than that nothing else could be said other than he exists... and a friend i knew paired him with a dilophosaurus once... despite them not even being in the same time period... there's that

now that you've probably not have read through allat and just here to give it like 3 stars and tell me to slice my shaft vertically with a razor blade in the reviews, what can be learnt from any of these?

DON'T ADD UNECESSARY INFORMATION UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE WRITING

as i've said before, common theme is me adding skeletals and other shmuck like conservation status for no other reason other than because i liked dinos and animal stats. if they were there if the refs were like for a specific species and not character i think they would've fit, but the fact i added those to just the characters without any regard for if that's relevant or not really shows that i was just adding stuff for the sake of it, especially when you factor in i barely have a sense of scale unless it was shown to me visually

this one's pretty self explanatory, as your style grows and things get outdated you ARE gonna draw your guys differently to fit your current aesthetic and whutnot and you WILL redo your ref sheets
