A close friend and servant of Remilia Scarlet, Patchouli Knowledge had found her library a target for insanity too many times. One day, she found a tome recording the techniques of an ancient being of knowledge known as Jinn, how she would mesmerize those graced with her wisdom, her mind and body captivating anyone in her presence. Inspired, Patchouli decided to adapt these techniques to her elemental magic, practicing the art of hypnotism. From now on, it didn't matter what intruders her library would get, be they shrine maidens, thieving witches, slimy reporters, or even something from beyond Gensokyo, they would all be tresspassing on her territory, and would all submit to her power. To master this new technique, she'd need people to mesmerize. There was no difficult decision to make here, the first to fall under her hypnotic power would be her loyal assistant, soon-to-be servant, Koakuma.

  I didn't want to just slap a typical Arabian bedlah costume on Patchouli, so I tried something based off of her usual wardrobe. Bows, frills, ribbons, even the veil is meant to resemble her hat.
