In late 2021, I decided to flesh out my Primrose character by attempting to draw her every day for... as long as I could keep up. It ended up going for two weeks before some (positive, don't worry) life developments happened and took my focus.

Newgrounds only lets me post ten images to the main slideshow, so the last few are down below.

Day 1: Just a default pose. I still use this pic when referencing her proportions.

Day 2: Primrose’s public-facing persona is that of a stereotypical super-serious martial artist. She spends a lot of time training. Also glowering, she does a lot of glowering.

I was always on the fence about whether to play it straight and make her an actual good fighter, or have her be something of a poser - she may have just learned her skills on the internet and never been in a real fight.

Day 3: Secretly, Primrose is a sucker for superhero comics. She wouldn’t mind being a hero herself someday.

Day 4: Some kinda wrap-around animal-ear headphones.

Day 5: Prim's initial lack of thumbs was getting in the way of some drawing ideas. In this pic I was deciding whether to give her some (also claws). She ended up getting thumbs.

Day 6: This is what she needed thumbs for. Proportions came out wonky here... her head seems very small compared to her torso.

Day 7: Halloween palette swap. Now she just kinda looks like a fox, though.

Day 8: Deciding between white and p[ink underbelly. Went with white, but not before some later pictures ended up using the pink.

Day 9: Just doing some tidying.

Day 10: Though Primrose has a very canine-looking body, her head was originally meant to have a bit of raccoonishness to it. (Though it quickly veers back into fox territory if I don’t keep on top of it.)

Anyway, I was thinking maybe I’d give her a couple tail bands to double down on that aspect of her design, but I'm worried it might make the overall design look too busy. Also, a rare glimpse of Prim's back stripe.

Day 12: One must always stay alert.

Days 11 & 13: I didn't have a lot of time on day 11, so I made a tiny pixel Primrose. On day 13, I went back and turned it into an idle animation. It's all about that tail.

Day 14: Prim's favorite food is chocolate cake. Taffy, the bakery otter, uses this to break through her stoic demeanor and get some friendly conversation out of her.
