This is kind of a re-draw of Archie Comics / PEP No. 281, drawn by Dan DeCarlo. In the original cover Moose is being a third-wheel while Archie and Veronica are trying to have some alone time. I actually didn't get the joke Archie was saying on the true cover (it might have to do with dead slang that I don't understand) so I just made a joke more obvious and pervy. I also replaced the characters on the PEP logo with most of Archie female characters instead of the massive sausage fest the original had.

I got the idea for this because of an Internet Comment Etiquette episode where he stumbled upon a Facebook group called Archie Hornyposting and it's the funniest thing ever. Ever since then I've been low-key stalking the group to laugh at the comments.

Would you consider an idea for a pic with all the Archie girls together?

You know, you'd think I wouldn't be surprised by the quality of your work anymore, but obviously you consistently outdo yourself. It looks like you've gotten into working on bigger pieces, is it because you no longer have to put out so many drawings? Anyway, this is so spot on, from characters, to background, to lettering, you nailed the feel of an Archie comic.

Also, I don't think the comics authority would ever approve this comic, in fact I think you'd fall under a corrupter of the youth.

glee-chan responds:

I started doing more complex drawings because they're harder to steal...plus I'm doing subject matters that.a certain someone isn't interested in. Believe me, I miss the easier pictures, lol. This took two weekends. Lately I've got a big piece going on in the background with some smaller ones to make the difference if I'm not ready to post yet. Pretty sure no one is jonings for my pictures anymore anyway since I stopped doing DC pics.

This is fucking amazing, and better than any of the ones I ever did (please disregard what I said in PM, I was talking about other people's edits since I didn't notice you posted one XD I'm sorry). Can you tell me how you did this?

Also, good god, your recolors look better than the ones Archie Comcis actually did. They look like shit compared to this. Like the Pussycats graphic novel collection I have. And those people are paid to color things.

glee-chan responds:

Well, I re-drew everything instead of photoshopping changes, so I had more control over where things fell, picking colors, and so on. I used an actual older but cleaner comic cover for the template of colors I needed, but also used some of my own judgement for ones that weren't so obvious. I think as fans we're used to a muted or dusty look to the art work give it's either aged or comes from newsprint. Modern Archie just has the pure crisp colors because that's how it always looked in the studio. Now that its the digital age and printing methods are better, their recolors look too saturated. If you look at the Digezts, they still are printed on the cheap and still "feel" right. So I think the issue comes with Archie Comics not downgrading their stuff. I have one of the Dan DeCarlo Best of books and since the paper is nicer the colors are crisper there too. BUT yeah, for all the chances I wanted to do, it was just easier to draw it instead of ps everything, which I had done to get a template to go on, but I didn't have to worry about making it look pretty because I was going to do all that myself. I took the opportunity to fix up some proportions mistakes as well. Whether it was DeCarlo just squirting it out quick or the image I had was warped, Veronica just looked off from her model. So I fixed that too. The hardest parts were the text and small details like Ronnie's bikini, jewelry, and sand piles.

This must have taken a long time to color. There's a lot of detail here.

Glee-chan is approbed by the comic code authority?! I would have never imagined ._.
