Chi Chi's Magazine Shoot

Share

While I was researching Dragonball Evolution's Mai, I saw a lot of pictures of Jamie Chung's version of Chi Chi as well. One particular series of photos was pretty striking so I thought "turnabout is fair play". So here's Chi Chi as Jamie Chung this time, duplicating a photoshoot she did around the time of DBE's promotions. Hey... Chi Chi had to get money somewhere during the many times Goku was dead or not around....

Dragonball Evolution was a 2009 American butchering of an adaptation of Akira Toriyama's original manga/anime Dragon Ball. It's directed by James Wong, produced by Stephen Chow, and written by Ben Ramsey and stars Jamie Chung as Chi Chi.

If someone can make live-action Dragon Ball better than those who appears to only "adapt" them just for the sake of money-grabbing, it's obviously the fans.

glee-chan responds:

Dragon Ball really is something that I feel doesn't need to be adapted, but like you said, if there's money to be made, people will do it. Honestly, I think if they HAD to adapt the series for movies, I'd start with one of the tournament arcs, probably the last one in Dragon Ball when Goku is adultish. The beginning of that arc everyone is sort of introducing themselves again, it's more status quo to what DBZ would end up being, and you can focus more on characters and fighters instead of story. It'd be a perfect set up for Z movies because you're not jumping around to a bunch of locations and meeting everyone single person under the moon. The next movie I'd combine all of the Saiyajin arc into one. So Raditz until Vegeta's defeat. That might seem like a lot, but keep in mind most of those episodes are training and running. Cut all that into a montage and you probably have a decent sized movie. Also, this is why I wanted to Piccolo JR arc first. When the earthlings bite it, you would have known them in the previous movie first, So it's more meaningful, and means more for the next movie in bringing them back. If you start with Dragon Ball proper, the casuals will be wanting big fights and will have to wait for a while on those. If you go with Z, you're missing a bunch of context and who these characters are. Soooo that's my suggestion on a franchise. (Plus cutting up some standing-around characters probably is necessary too.)

This has some of your Jungle Girl vibes to it. I like it.

This movie was such a cluster-fuck of bad decisions. I guess it has that pre-2010 bad American adaptation syndrome that plagued every adaptation of niche nerd properties back then. What happened was some dumb company would get the rights to some peopular property just because it was popular, then they would farm it out to some WGA hack who was NEVER a fan of the series but wrote the screenplay anyways like some carpet-bagging clown. Then the racist ass producer would ensure that the Asian main character was always mysteriously cast with a white actor some how, but tried to paper over it by casting b-tier characters with Asian actors, because the Hollywood belief back then was that Asian actors can't lead Hollywood movies. There are many movies like this of video game series and stuff, and they are all huge fucking bombs.

Also I'm not going to name this retard's name, because the world is healing and history will soon forget he existed because this loser literally drank himself to death over Disneyland being closed during Covid, but the most cancerous fat gaijin WEEBO scuzzbag POS gatekeeper in the history of North American anime fandom from the worst gaijin cancer gatekeeper website was enraged that people were criticizing this film when information about it started coming out before its release, literally lashing out at the fans for being "nerds" who needed to shut up, when this hateful fuck spent a lot of his life banning people from a forum for said website for having the wrong opinions. His angle was that he thought anime was horrible and needed to be more like respectable white entertainment like the watered down PC comic book film adaptations because what he really wanted to do was be a film critic and thought anime was beneath him despite you know being a fat gajijn orbiter of anime complaining about anime fans for his entire career anyways. Then the movie came out and was a huge embarrassment, and he had to eat crow like the loser he was. Good stuff.

I'm not sure how your really feel. I wish you're be less vague.

Chi Chi has never looked better.

Wow, this looks great, the sweat on Chi Chi really sells the piece. This does beg the question, who id the best Dragonball babe? It's hard to argue against Bulma, since she's the most important character not named Goku, but I have a soft spot for Videl.
