SI-15 "Thunderhowl"

Share

"Sven Industries proudly presents the Thunderhowl, the ideal answer when you need to strike first, and strike hard!"

This was the tagline for the Thunderhowl back when it just came out, around 10 years ago.

Since then, it has proven to be a reliable sidearm, althought it was definitively not as easy to use as some other models.

It's commonly used by guilds that specialize in fighting space pirates or raiders of the sort.

The way the Thunderhowl operates is quite different from other laser pistols. Indeed, instead of having the power cell provide small impulse of energy for each shot, SI decided to make power cells that would give out all of their energy in one blast. While this enables the gun to have tremendous firepower for its size, it definitively hampers its flexibility in battle, and seeing as only one power cell can be loaded at a time, and that it is not possible to fit a magazine on such a small frame, there are unfortunatly no way around it.

Despite this, the Thunderhowl has, over time, gathered quite a bit of enthusiasts, and many have customized their unit. An example would be Lou "Lightbreaker" Polianda, who was famous for her four-barreled Thunderhowl, of which it was said that it was so powerful it could tear a mechsuit apart. Unfortunatly she was never able to prove that boast to be true, as she was killed while raiding a pirate den three days later.

Nonetheless, this is a good example of the kind of reputation this gun has had for the past years, and a testament to the fact that a shaky start might not always end on a failure.
