"The Carmine Spur was part of SI's 15th series, which was dedicated to cost-efficiency. Given that this has always been SI's highest priority, Hunters at large were curious to see what would come out of it.

What wound up happening is that SI practically flipped the market on its head with the Carmine Spur; no one else was selling such a good gun for such a low price. With a price equal to roughly a third of the other pistols it competed with, the Spur would quickly reign supreme, with the other gun makers being hardpressed to come up with a counter. 20 years later, it is still SI's best seller, as well as one of the most common guns used by the Hunters of the Halcyon Union.

Many of the company's competitors still see this success as founded in sheer luck and nothing else. The founder of SI, Sir Flammenfluch, wholeheartedly admitted that the Spur was in part a gamble, and a risky one at that, he also stated: "I always thought that high quality did not have to be necessarily linked to a high price; the Carmine Spur is a reflection of that idea".
