In the first pic he slightly reminds me of Pinhead, from the Hellraiser horror flicks.
An attempt at drawing a ‘zombie’ character design that mirrors the zombie design I have for the demons - That being a sub-species I’ve named the Gargoyles due to the demon type having a stone like exo-skeleton. The design originated from wanting to have the brain exposed or some distinction in the design for the idea of a ‘corrupted human’. The Angels as a villain in The Eudaemon are a very militaristic and capitalistic esc force and I wanted to experiment with social themes of control vs freedom. Chaos is demonic whereas control is Angelic. Both are still concepts very trapped. The Eudaemon is a middle ground for freedom and represents just being. In modern day, a lot of control comes from technology, hacking humanity’s ability to make themselves happy and basically drugging humans to the brain with needles and wires to puppeteer them in a dystopian way. I haven’t figured out how the strings will work but I’d imagine it’d be like the matrix and they’d hook up to ports in the humans. Not all humans are this, but the end up like this when they turn 21 (which adds to the punk and youth themes I wanted to write about and should match Libertá’s canon age of 20) The badge is a symbol for the angels to fit with the eye motif and I figured the eyes would be more exposed to sort of have a dark twist on the themes of enlightenment and peace I usually write about. I’m not a horror artist and I despise a lot of horror but I do feel like I can really flex complex writing when I have these more dynamic and twisted villain designs that conflict with the ideas of identity and free will I want to write about. Overall, this enemy type perfectly represents what it means to lose your own identity with age due to the metaphor of the Angel Reigime forced upon humans and I feel very satisfied with the mock up character sheet I’ve made here :)
The only other note I have is that these people are very skeletal since they’ve had their hearts removed and replaced by and exposed engine. I’ll do another design with a fine tip soon to showcase this.
Moral of the story: The Office got one thing right - working at a desk is gonna be the death of you! So pick up art and have some fun.
