The word "retail" is derived from the French root word "retailler," which is a scrap of fabric cut from something processed by a tailor, the scrap possibly referencing the difference in prices between wholesale markets and retail forums.

Alligators are very well known for protecting their children, so I believe an alligator shopkeeper (or any other professional) would be very protective of their stock. I also wanted to make her look friendly, so the perspective on the snout is made to look... safe? Sturdy? I do not know the words to express the feeling that the shape is meant to express. Its much easier to just show the shape!
