"The End of President Piranha and Minister Chanchwick"
(As a pun on their names: Piñera and Chadwick)
As you may know, here in Chile we are at hard times right now. The people are more united than ever and we want the president and the minister to be dismissed. So I made a drawing of my crocodile in a Godzilla-like fashion, as a representation of the chilean people and his power to go against the oppression and injustice.
Funny that I'm not a guy that likes to draw contingency issues, but here's an exception because it's the first time in history where the chilean people are not longer divided by political sides. We are finally united for compassion and justice.
What’s going on?
Last week the price of the metro tickets went up for the second time in the year. That wouldn't be a problem, if the minimum wage also went up. But it didn't. That was the it was the straw that broke the camel's back. The discontent isn’t just about an increase in the price of metro tickets. Chile is one of the most inequal countries, and people are demanding changes to correct the imbalance. The average pension is around USD $315 a month. It’s impossible to make ends meet without getting into debt.
Soldiers and police officers are roaming the streets in Santiago, Chile has a state of emergency and curfew in various cities.
This image explains it a lot better than me:
