Here was another game changer for me.

One, this was a composition I had been wanting to try. When it came to actually drawing it, I was originally going to go with the Heisei Godzilla, but ultimately, I went with 2000 instead. His spines seemed to balance out SpaceG's shoulder crystal better.

But in terms of how the piece was set up was due to what size of paper I drew this on. I bought a 5.5x8.5 sketchbook, and after scanning it in, I realized it's literally a fourth the size of 11x17. Hey, I do 11x17 prints, maybe I could make it into one for conventions! ...But scaling up a piece for printing is usually not a good idea. That's when I did a live trace on the lines to make them vector, then scaled them up. Then I brought them back into GIMP and colored them as usual.

I also took note of how clean the lines were by doing that live trace. None of those pesky dust speckles that the scanner picks up. From here forward, I pretty much started doing that with all my line art that would get colored.
