Reviews for "Anti-War Liberals"

I absolutely had to write a review to this

Very nicely done, CRAZY_MEXICAN0. I feel that many people have lost touch with what makes America great. If not for a strong military, and those brave & proud enough to strengthen it, we would all be speaking Mandarin Chinese right now as China would have taken our soil, homes, & most importantly our freedom in World War II.
As for the people who say, "Use words instead of violence." I'm all for negotiating civily, but ruthless tyrants such as Saddam laugh at peaceful talking & only understand brute force, much like an unruley child.
And there aren't many other places in the world where we even can sit and debate over a political movie. Try spending a week in North Korea, slandering the government. Then when you have soldiers busting down your door with semi-automatic weapons, see how far you get shouting out, "I have rights." Fact is, America is the best place to have an opinion.
And for those who don't respect soldiers who die to preserve our way of life, I spit in your face for not giving the highest regard to those who knowingly perish for things so minuscule as you being able to choose which cd to purchase or
what movie to go see this weekend.
"Try to find a Disney Land in Africa asshole!" -Guttermouth

CRAZY-MEXICAN0 responds:

I'm glad you took a great interest in my movie. Yes, many people do not apreciate how lucky we are to live in such a great country. Those who want the US to sit back, do nothing, and let the world build up around them until its too late, need to face the reality of the situation. As a super power we can not have a dictator like Saddam thumb his nose on the world stage to us, and then have the anti war people say "oh we need to keep the inspections up, and keep talking". Mean while Saddam builds up and hides his banned weapons and the rest of the UN turns a blind eye to a resolution that IT ALREADY MADE!

Very well done

I totally agree. There are arguments for each side. I would honestly say that the last post is the most well thought left sided argument I've ever seen. But, the fact still remains, for whatever reason that soldier joined, that soldier is still the one who gives us all we have today. Not the press, not even throwing yourself down on the pavement in the midst of a tantrum. Very good.

CRAZY-MEXICAN0 responds:

Thanks for your imput clear minded people like you who can respect peoples opinions, while still holding a firm belief in the idea that america is taking the right course of action are what makes the right sound sensible.

Not badly done,

for a bunch of apologist bullshit :)

Sounds like you fully support a kind of Machiavellian political view... fuck molarity, power (military) makes and maintains and forces our morality on the unwilling world.

Makes me real proud to be an american.

The military is just a puppet of the bureaucracy, but you make them out to be some kind of altruistic force out to save the world. Get real, most of them couldn't care less, they're in the military b/c they needed money for college, had no other options, or have some sick romanticized view of military power.

Extraordinary people have always had to fight and die for their beliefs, to bring change. It's pathetic how you idolize something that is nothing more than a neccessary evil in a violent immature world, and credit it with our country's great (but fading) accomplishments. Just remember, if the gov't ever decided to ban every right you mentioned, it would be the soldier pointing a gun in your face enforcing that repression.

I understand your frustration. Few americans appriciate what they have, or know what it takes to preserve it. But your equating military power and freedom is dangerously naive. You should learn to appreciate irony of america's strength - the dissent of it citizens.

CRAZY-MEXICAN0 responds:

A well thought out an clearly stated argument. I apreciate such views from the left, at least the ones that don't scream blood for oil. As far as my views go, I'm fairly Liberatarian, I want freedom to the fullest extent. When you say I equate freedom with military power, that statement is somewhat misconstrude. I don't see whats wrong with the idea that if we do not protect ourself (or deal with those actively trying to hurt us)that we can not enjoy the freedoms we as americans have.

Very nice indeed, with one small problem...

The title.

I agree with everything you said in this piece. It was very moving, and said in a way that literally brought tears to my eyes. I have friends and family overseas in the military. It hit close to home.

It bothers me, though, to know that so many people believe that it's only one group of people that are for or against war.

Not all liberals are against the action in Iraq.

Not all conservatives are for the action in Iraq.

You, and almost everyone else I encounter, makes the drastic mistake of lumping people into groups or this or that, and it offends those of us who don't fit into the pre-assigned mold.

If I protest, I will not burn my country's flag. I am/was against certain things about this war, but not war in general. And I have never been nor will I ever be anti-soldier. We do not need another Viet Nam homecoming.

I know this isn't something just you do. But hopefully putting this here will get a bit of notice. Don't stereotype anti-war individuals as liberal, or liberals as anti-war. It's offensive, it's unjust, and it's simply incorrect.

Remember...very little in this world is black and white. it's mostly gray.

CRAZY-MEXICAN0 responds:

Looking back on it you are right, I do unfairly group people into black and white. That was a poorly chosen error and it almost boils down to the fact that i was simply to lazy to change the title. In the mean time i pray for those loved ones you know over seas in the military and i apreciate your feedback.

I agree with your message- It is the soilder...

But are we the ultimate judge, jury, and enforcer of this world. The UN resolutions shouldn't be enforced by America, but by the UN itself. Just because we don't like what the rest of the world wants to do, doesn't give us the right to invade another country, even if it is to liberate it. Personally I think that we are there for the oil interests of our appointed president, but I do believe Saddam is/was dangerous. However, I don't believe his is/was the most dangerous of "the Axis of Evil" countries. Nor do I believe he is/was the cruelest of world leaders. Many other countries "mistreat" their citizens, and hold "weapons of mass destruction". I ask now, What line has cowboy Bush drawn, what countries are on which sides, and who is next for which reason? We, the taxpayers, are going to end up paying for Iraq and ALL the bombs and helicopters we droped on it, and the people who made the equipment, George's buddies are going to make lots of money. But again, it is the soilder who pays the ultimate price of his life for crooks and country. After all, he just follows orders to kill or be killed.

BTW communism would work, if not for the GREED of men like Bush. You may be asking, "Who's side is he on?" and my reply to that question is; Our side. I thank you in advance for not telling me to get out of this country if I don't like it, since you recognize my right to an opinion, as I recognize yours.

CRAZY-MEXICAN0 responds:

I most intelligent responce...I don't think the war is going to be for oil because I think all the proceedes are going to the Iraqi people. However i don't know what BTW communism is, yet I'm almost certain that its not the best economic and social system possible. Let people do what they want, that what capitalism is and its what has made this country the economic power that it is.
