great game though very tight controls
one criticism i have is that the little flower things that spit out fireballs or w/e are very annoying. they kind of break the overall flow of the game.

The game is meant to be hard although it's been updated to be more fair though! Your score resets after you lose all your lives lol

There is an option to turn off the retro effect.
I managed to get to the lava world, but not past the first level... Too damn hard for me! The difficulty is a little up there, but other than that, I love the game!
Sometimes the enemy hitboxes feel a little weird, like I get hits when I don't expect to and miss when I think I shouldn't.
To make the game a little bit more fair, it feels like you should maybe get 2 hits per life instead of it being a 1-hit KO?
Also I loved the aesthetic too
