Reviews for "Zombie Society - Dead Detective"

Very good game deserving of the Daily Feature.

Good:
1. The deduction system was great, both in execution and logic of the proofs
2. Graphics were nostalgic
3. Length and challenge level were just right
4. Attention to detail
5. No pixel hunting
6. Built-in hint system in case the player got stuck (I never needed to use it though)

Bad:
1. I answered all of the questions correctly in the beginning, but after I beat the game it said that I only got 6/7 and that "The crime is of small importance to the police" was WRONG, even though all signs were that that was the correct line of reasoning
2. I think it would be better during asking witnesses about evidence that if, after I click on Evidence that didn't elicit any useful information from the witness, instead of going back to the dialogue and have to click on Consult Notes and Ask About Evidence again just to ask about a different piece of evidence, I could go back to the Notebook instead and be able to click on a different piece of evidence immediately, and save the player many clicks during the game.
3. Why isn't it possible to quit the game during gameplay?

One more possible area of improvement is adding "red herring" evidence that shouldn't get used and wouldn't be logical in the deductions, just like how clues in the real detective world aren't always relevant to the case.

I would definitely like to see more episodes of self contained cases like this one for this franchise in the future. Good work!

Thanks a lot, this is actually the first time I get a daily feature, and I've been making games on Newgrounds for about ten years...! So you can see why this made me very glad :D

I'll answer to your "bad" questions:
1- that's a weird bug. I know for sure you can get the maximum score, as other users were able to do so, me included. It might have something to do with how the data is manually saved. I'll have a look into it.
I'll let you know, however, that you can still lose a point in the first segment of the game if you ask Mitsk why he's there, instead of deducing it by yourself
2- I had thought about that, and I actually don't know why I didn't do as you say. I'll have to remember this thing for my next game.
3- The quit button is there for the desktop version.. In case I ever decide to make it as long as an actual game, and maybe sell it on Steam :)
But yeah, I could have removed it from the web version, since it's useless

Thank you again for your nice review, I'm glad you had fun :)

While interesting there is something lacking. I'd have to think about that for a while.

Thank you for your review!

I think it kinda glitched out on me, I can't seem to get the "One out of Two" Medal because I'm not given a conclusion I could pick whenever I have one right and one wrong idea in the beginning (and when I choose the two right options then, I'm given a possible conclusion...but when I change one of the answers and then try to pick a conclusion, the game still acts as if I've picked both correct ones)
Apart from that though, the game is quite alot of fun and intriguing! I enjoyed finding clues and piecing everything together using logical thinking. I only had to use the walkthrough right at the end because I wasn't able to make all conclusions and present them despite having had all clues...until I found out I made one wrong assumption and all HAD to be correct in order to finish the game (which was kinda sad, I wished there would have been the possibility to end the game without solving the case/accusing the wrong person)
Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself and didn't even mind replaying the game to get the other achievements~

Muja responds:

Hello, and thank you for your feedback!
Let me point out, however, that:
- you CAN get the medal "one out of two" by doing two deductions during your first meeting with Mr. Mitsk. The first deduction is the very first question you ask Mr. Mitsk. In short: if you say "You don't want to get the police involved" you fail the first deduction; If you confirm the theory "The thief stole Mitsk's money" you fail the second deduction.
Fail only one of those, and you'll get the medal you want
- you CAN make the wrong deduction and accuse the wrong zombie! In fact, there are at least three other wrong deductions you can make to solve the case - but all your interpretations still have to be coherent with each other.

That's all, glad you have fun and thank you for your review :)

love this undead thing you having going here

Thank you! :)

Good game, but the medals don't seem to work.
