Reviews for "once upon a city"

Nice game, I just wish there was a clearer idea of what I'm supposed to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the food doesn't respawn. I can't tell if that's part of the game, or just poor planning. For me, it resulted in the game being impossible. Nice atmosphere though, good story and voice acting. The gameplay is just really dull.

Unity sucks ass but your game is fucking awesome man, if developed a bit more it would absolutely be a big hit, love it, sign me the fuck up

Simple, with lots of potential & atmosphere... poison atmosphere, but enjoyable.

The major problem is that you rely on the default unity avatar controls, and not everyone knows them by heart. Cut & paste the text from the docs into a help page, if coding time is at a premium, is my suggestion.

Maybe it's the GL settings on my browser, but movement/animation was jumpy. Also, I could not seem to slow down the avatar from run to walk, which made most of the pickups/tins inaccessible due to the jump distance from frame to frame going straight over the collision detection area.
(I bet you can fix this in less than 1hr of coding, I can think of 3 quick patches off the bat.)

While the story is a good effort for a jam-timed composition, I wish you had a moral or more of a sense of finality, or even an Adieu note to top off the brother's despair. Finding out what fate befell the parents would make nice side-quests. As is, it neither quite went to the tragedy of war nor the happy overcoming of the odds end it could have. In fact, with 2 or 3 more voice-msgs, you could have seen the mom to safety, killed the dad in some vain but noble effort, and left the bro lost in the tides of war, thus given us to all 3 poignant ends.

So 1/2 pt off for the clunky avatar movement, 1/2 pt off for the abruptness of the ending. Great quick off the cuff work!

I would play a game like this again. Definitely needs to be longer, but it has good potential.
