Starogre responds:

thanks! actually blur studios is a freelance 3d animation company but they do cartoonish short films sometimes so the character isn't mine, but i've done some other 3d stuff. i'll post 3d art as i go, but i have a small screenshot under my lotte reiniger news post of one thing i made that i might post soon.

This made me laugh

Great work on that. You can copy and paste bits of magazines better than i can draw o.o

What the?! Why does this wonderful art piece not have a higher rating?! At least people like me and eddsworld were smart enough to notice how good it was. It reminds me of the artwork in a lot of children's books like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". In fact, there are already insects on this page! I even love the little picture you show in the middle part.

It just seems like something you would make out of a magazine. It's like you took out pictures and combined it into something new. I don't think that's how these kinds of things are made, though. I love how everything seems to be different. It reminds me of personal art projects where you take different materials.

nice

that's a nice collage you made. keep it up

Starogre responds:

thanks, definitely will

Collage is Fine Art

I totally disagree with IamWeird33. Collage is fine art. Instead of creating with paint, pencil, or ink , you have to manipulate, not to mention, find, the perfect scrap for your piece and make it all work. I find a certain snobbery in some artists who look down their nose at other's artists choice of medium. It's a mistake and a disgrace to the art world not to remain open minded. Collage definitely belongs in Art Portal and I hope to see more of it, as I like to view all kinds of art.

Starogre responds:

thanks, i agree. I was working with a limited number of magazines, just like other painters and such sometimes work with limited color palettes.
