Reviews for "UFO: Blackstorm shield"

Yes, you DID make it too hard with that spawner ship. It easily blanketed the screen with the smaller ships, and if you 'accidentally' killed all the bad guys shooting at your city, you're left helpless to watch them easily kill your city. The description for the machine gun and flak buildings neglected to tell you that all it does is give you a powerup, replacing your standard weapon with a gun of that effect. The game would have been alright, if it wasn't for that oversight.
Tone down the spawn rate on that boss ship, and be a little bit clearer with the descriptions please. As well, state that the sell button replaces all spent cash on the building sold, and tell the player what kind of currency you're using to build with.

AleGui responds:

Good feedback, thanks.
I just implemented all these changes in version 1.2

The boss fight is now easier, I made sure I was able to defeat it with all buildings at upgrade level #2.
Still it is challenging, I recommend taking out the spawners ASAP using the rail or machine gun, or clearing the spawned ships with the flak canon if there are too many. Also sometimes stealing energy from shields to power your gun is essential.

Music is good, upgrades are the good thing :D its great

Using the weapon upgrades is just no where near responsive enough. It kept giving it to the shields instead of the weapon I desperately needed, which ended up in a very frustrating game over. The responsiveness of certain mechanics really needs to be fixed, I would suggest by making certain things activated through shortcut keys like CVB.

Did you even try your own game? The concept in itself is interesting, but what's the point of an unbeatable game, with a final level basically raping you? A fine example of a well-programmed and amusing game, broken by a mere lack of beta-testing. Too bad...

I am pretty sure you can go all the way back to the Atari 2600 to come up with when it was well known that Breakout style games were TERRIBLE with digital left/right controls. So it is amazing that 3 ad a half decades later this game would still try to do it.
